Zurich is rainy and gray
But my hotel room is super awesome, despite the fact that it’s an annoying trek to work.
I ate a banana on my flight.
Boo to working, already want to be back in Austin :-/
Buying a house + Going to Zurich = Stress++
I’m buying a house! Pretty excited about it - it’s a little thing on the East Side, pretty great location by downtown. As stressful as that whole process is, I’m also leaving for Zurich on Saturday - again for 3 weeks. So, I am uber tense these days.
So, hopefully I will have more Europe posts in the coming weeks, but at the same time, I can’t afford to actually travel...
Carolina Chocolate Drops
Yesterday, in our after Naked Empire show quest to find free SXSW beer, we stumbled upon the Carolina Chocolate Drops. I’d recently heard about them on NPR, so I was pretty excited to hear them. Needless to say, it was pretty awesome - banjos, fiddle, harmonica, stone jug (!), and clacky sticks, along with some great vocals! Give them a listen.
Despite my insistence on avoiding all thing...
Weekend Weekend
I have been successful at avoiding sxsw events this weekend due in large part to the fact that I fell deathly ill after Friday’s lunch at TerraBurger. Pretty sure it was the sweet potato fries, but their veggie burger wasn’t that great, so I won’t miss never going there again.
Sad that I have been mostly bed ridden because it was a beautiful weekend. Luckily, I did manage to get...

Milano!
Here’s a recap of my day trip to Milan yesterday. I have a feeling it’s going to be kind of long …
So, walking out of the hotel was weird, because I didn’t bring any luggage, or get in a car or anything, just felt like I was walking out the door … to Milan. Caught the local train to the main station, and then found my regional train and found my seat. Easy peasy. The...
TeeHee
I just stopped by the kebab place right by the hotel (after rushing to the grocery store to get some more wine before it closed) and the guy behind the counter looked just like Dustin Hoffman with the twinkle/merriment in his eye of Gene Wilder. I want to be that guy’s BFF. Might be getting a lot more falafel next week :D
Random things about my Zurich Experience
- The walk from the train station to the office passes by a little creek. There are ducks in there, they are cute. One of my first mornings, we even saw a heron. I should bring them some snacks from breakfast … - All the toilet paper I have encountered here is this weird stiff stuff. Same rolls in the office as the hotel. Clearly, this means all TP in Swizterland is like this. - The...
I am in a Europe
Been meaning to post for a couple days .. of course I am teh lazy. So, quick highlights below Wednesday — Arrived safely in Zurich! — Made it to the hotel w/o incident using trains. — Hotel is in a cool location. Lots of shops/restaurants, two stops from work and two stops from the airport. — Hotel elevator has a door that you open once the lift has arrived. So, it...
Off to Zurich
Well, I am headed to Zurich for work on Tuesday. For almost 3 weeks! Lots of work for the project, but hopefully some time to explore on the weekends. I want to go to Italy, I haven’t been there ever.
